Orange is the New Black

Now before you get on ahead with that title.. no.. I didn't watch the TV series yet although I heard many compliments about it~ heheh... but that's sort of where I'm deriving the title of this outfit from!

I don't have much orange clothes now that I think of it.. NEW SHOPPING MOTIVE!! (Just kidding, haha- I need to start saving for school too!!) Anyway.. the weather is so so hot today (and a bit humid)- it felt nearly like the warm, humid weather in Hawaii when I took a stroll down here in the evening! Loved the feeling.. gosh, how I miss Hawai!!

Oh my gosh.. I love this setting so much!! Perfect shooting location for more outfits! Con is that my photographer (aka my sister(s)) didn't have a fun trip here walking! Oh, look.. I'm wearing my "walking shoes"!

What I'm wearing: Top from China | Shorts from China | Hat from China | Roots Bag | Clarks Shoes

This light thin cardigan was absolutely perfect for the cooling evening! I honestly don't remember where it's from! :P but today was too hot to wear the cardigan! It's probably above 38 degrees Celsius including humidity!! Well, I love hot more than cold, so I'm going to embrace this weather while I can (crazy me, huh)?! ^^ *flips sticky hair in air* (I'm debating what sorts of short hairstyles should I go for as I have extremely thick hair!)

Until next time!! Have a great day!

Let's Travel Back in Time!

Unfortunately, it's impossible to travel back in time- but it's our decision to choose if we'd like to sit in our room and regret about our poor choices or we could simply look forward to the future, learning from the past!

Funny.. the other day when me and a couple of friends had a get together, some of my friends told me they traveled back in time- with the proof of a photo! The newer public transit buses show the time and date on the front of the bus for the passengers to see.. and the date we had a hangout, they bused together to find the date being August 1998.

Anyway, in honour of time, here's to this bright and playful outfit: a chiffon polka-dot overalls from Forever 21 and a mint lace top from Forever 21, and a pair of polka dot sneakers I snagged from China.

The gorgeous flowers and trees and a vast blue sky- the feeling of forever!

A close up on my bracelet that reads NICOLE
My sister got me this bracelet with my name on it when she went on a tour band with her school band group. They traveled east of Canada to Quebec- lucky!

Haha, I know what you're thinking... it's just leaves..

Formal blazer and a Casual Romper

Hey everyone!  Hope everyone is enjoying their day thus far! Within the last week, I can't believe I watched 2 movies.. of course, it might not be a lot to some people, but I'm not a big "movie person" though it's probably the number one "hangout idea" with anyone.

Friends: "Let's meet up this weekend!"
Me: "Sure! Let's watch a movie- what movie?"

Anyway, I watched How To Train Your Dragon 2 (didn't watch 1 yet) and The Truth In Our Stars. They were actually both touching with some funny scenes- I would recommend them! Now, onto my outfit- mixing a blue, formal blazer with a casual print romper. I'm getting really hyped up about mixing different pieces together lately, haha. I would say this outfit is good for casual events such as lunch or breakfast.. maybe a little under semi-formal, too!

What are your plans for the weekend? Thoughts on mixing something formal with something casual? Thanks for reading!

Knit Skeleton with Florals

G'morning everybody! It's a holiday today because of Victoria Day, so hooray for an outfit shot! This long weekend was full of reading and piano playing- I'm having my grade eight repertoire piano exam in August! I'll be talking more about that as that day comes :)

Anyway, for today's outfit- a hand-me-down romper with a light knit top (has a skeleton print on it, too)! I thought the romper was actually a dress until I tried it on today- boy was it awkward to find out it was a romper! It's still a cute piece, though.

This nice, loose top was bought during my vacation at San Diego, California, from Fashion Q. Now thinking about it, I should have splurged there! (I was browsing through their store, admiring their pieces and affordable prices, but hiding my wallet.. grrr.) The shoes were also bought somewhere in San Diego, but I can't recall which store it was from.

Anyway, thanks for reading and have a great week ahead of yourselves!

Stressed, Depressed, but still Well-Dressed.

Hey everyone! As I'm typing away right now, the sun is shining brightly through the windows, while I'm just staring at the gloomy setting in the photos in the post I just took this morning! If only the sun came out earlier!! And, don't get me wrong about the title of this post- I'm not feeling stressed or depressed.. well, not to the extreme! I was merely describing the setting of today's photo shoot! Haha.

Of course, the weather this morning was chilly, looking at the sky; this outfit was layered with a fur vest to keep me a tad bit more warm, plus a belt for a pop of colour and to pull my outfit together.

Thanks for reading; have a great week, all!

Give Me Another Break...

Can you believe it's January of 2014 already?! January, defined by us, high school students, mean torture! Final exams and diplomas are what're we're heading into at this time of the school year. School officially starts next week and I just started flipping through my Biology textbook last night! :( Procrastination is such a horrible experience in which I constantly encounter (and you remind me of my last post before the break when I confidently declared to be efficient during this two-week period).

I think just need another break...

Anyway, what's done is done. I'm glad I spent some quality time, you could say, with my family. I just hope you spent your time more wisely than I did.

For today's look, I pulled out some of my classic summer pieces (sleeveless top and shorts) and incorporated them into my winter attire. I remembered seeing this pair of shorts on the streets of Yantai, China. Loved the soft chiffon material of the flower in the front and the light-washed denim colour. It was in one of those small boutiques that are set up right beside the sidewalk! I believe I purchased this for $5 CAD- cheap price right?! But the cheap price may come with cheap quality. I hand wash all my clothes bought from China since machine wash and dry could cause colour change, loose sewing edges, and all that mumbo jumbo! I'd rather not take the risk, though I know these pieces aren't that durable.

Folded the sleeves of my coat so my gifted Kenneth Cole watch from Momma bear can steal some spot light while it also polishes the whole outfit.

These pair of shoes were borrowed from my Grandma's collection! There's something about vintage that reflects a retro feeling.. like, that feeling when you're in love with the old yet elegant buildings of the Victorian Era?

New Years- New Hope

We are now at the end of this magnificent year of 2013! It's amazing how the years just come and go.. it's almost a little hard to keep up with them! I can't wait for the year of 2014... I hope I can accomplish more and get more out of it.

Today I'm channeling my inner girly with this chiffon pleated dress I bought from China for around $15-$20. Matching it with this structured jacket/blazer to polish this outfit (which also has a cute shiny piece of accessory attached on the left of it). Tights for winter and my velvet booties I mentioned from my last post that I got for only $15.

Outfit Details

Dress- China
Booties- Stitches

I know I've promised to show my haul, so here are some of the pieces I've picked out:

Chiffon Polka Dots Overalls- Forever 21 for $27.50
Sparkly Sweater- Garage for $10
Knit Pullover- Aeropostale for $16

Kenneth Cole watch gifted from my Mom for Christmas. I received some lovely gifts from my family and friends you will be seeing in my next few posts. :) I had a wonderful Christmas as I spent it with my family and it was great to give and receive, but most importantly, to send quality time with each other.

A whole ton sure happened in 2013, and I've learned a lot through experience. I've got a feeling 2014 will be a better year for all of us. Happy New Years everyone! I hope you and your family will all stay healthy and happy. Stay safe!

Lots of Love,

Nikkie
